Senator Greenleaf Encourages Constituents of the 12th
District to Submit Suggestions to the Senate Government Management and Cost
Study Commission
Senate Resolution 161 of 2009 established the Senate Government
Management and Cost Study Commission, a commission of private and public sector
cost-minded leaders of this Commonwealth to study the management of current
government operations and to make recommendations of cost-cutting measures.
All residents of the Commonwealth are encouraged to submit any
suggestions for cutting costs to the Commission by e-mailing
cuttingcosts@pasen.gov.
On April 12, the Commission held its fourth in a series of
hearings that focused on:
-
The Auditor General's report on state vehicles and
costs within the Department of Public Welfare; and
-
A look inside the IMPACCT Commission and PRIME
Initiative established under Governor Tom Ridge;
-
Implementation of proposals on the state and county
levels encouraging the reduction of expenditures.

The more feedback the Commission receives on cost reduction
strategies, the more valuable the final report, due June 30, will be.
"This is a great opportunity for citizens to participate in
their state government," said Senator Greenleaf. "I know that many of my
constituents are highly concerned about the state's current financial
difficulties and have ideas on how to reduce spending and get Pennsylvania on
the right track."
The Senator plans to offer testimony before the Commission in
May concerning cost savings to the Department of Corrections through the
enactment of prison reform legislation.
