GREENLEAF RECEIVES MONTGOMERY BAR FOUNDATION
AWARD
HARRISBURG – Sen. Stewart J. Greenleaf, R-Montgomery/Bucks, has been
named recipient of the Milton O. Moss Award for 2002 by the Montgomery County
Bar Foundation.
The award was presented to Sen. Greenleaf at the annual meeting of the
Montgomery County Bar Association on January 10,2003. Bar Foundation officials
said that Greenleaf was selected because of his “continuing efforts to provide
funding for legal aid services to the indigent” and for his efforts on behalf
of the recently-passed Access to Justice Act, which establishes a funding
mechanism for the Access to Justice Account, which will be maintained in the
State Treasury for use of eligible legal services providers across the state.
Funding will come from additional $10 fees that may be imposed on filings
in counties, district justice offices, and in the state appellate courts.
“I am tremendously honored by this award,” Greenleaf said. “I admire the humanitarian work of the Montgomery Bar
Foundation and it is a privilege to receive an award in the name of the late
Judge Moss.”
Greenleaf has a record of working on behalf of funding for legal
services. In his acceptance of the
award, he noted that equal justice depends upon access to the justice system by
all citizens.
